The Top 10 Best Massage Chairs of 2017
No home spa would be complete without a massage chair, and you could say that no living room is complete without one. That’s why we’ve put together the most complete and comprehensive guide to choosing one anywhere on the internet.
If you’re not in the mood to read our epic guide from back to front, we’ve also made a short video (just over a minute!) outlining the top 5 reasons to buy a massage chair.

- 7 Tips On How To Choose The Best Massage Chair In The World
So you’re probably wondering what the best massage chair on the market is. When you’re shopping for a massage chair, you probably want to know two things – which is the cream of the crop, and which is the best one you can afford.
To help you out, we’ve curated this list based on our own personal research into the top brands and the most popular models. Attitudes to these products can be quite subjective so we’ve also spent hundreds of hours reading feedback from real customers on blogs and Amazon listings to make our recommendations as universal as possible.
Given the amount of research we carried out and the range of products we’ve tested, there is definitely something for everybody on this list. Without further ado, here are the 10 best massage chairs for 2017.
#1 – BestMassage EC-06 ($)
The very affordable BestMassage EC-06 has surprising features that you would normally find in much more expensive products. Our favorite features include the full shiatsu massage experience (so expensive when you get this done in a hotel!), zero-gravity feature, waist heating, rolling foot massage, its build quality, and quiet operation. It also makes use of the L-track system. An L-track refers to “track” of the massage chair rollers that go up and down your spine, and further down to your buttocks area.
#2 – Relaxonchair Zero Gravity Shiatsu ($$)
The Zero Gravity Shiatsu is a popular choice for both the home, forward-thinking offices, and even wellness centers. Don’t be surprised if you see this best massage chair being used in a spa. A mid-range chair boasting solid features, the Zero Gravity Shiatsu has 3 (three) zero gravity positions, L-track rollers, body scanning, built-in heating airbag system, and deep tissue massage.
As an added bonus, the Zero Gravity Shiatsu massage chair is lightweight – you’ll be grateful when it comes time to rearrange your living room.
#3 – Ideal Massage Shiatsu Chair ($)
The Ideal Massage Shiatsu Chair has an amazing array of features for its price. It’s got 3 zero-gravity positions, customizable massage durations from 5 to 30 minutes, 14 massage type combinations, body scanning, and 4 massage functions including Shiatsu, Spinal Roll, Vibrate, and Knead. This chair also has built-in therapy which is awesome for tired and sore muscles.
If you can’t justify spending several thousands for a chair massager, the Ideal Massage Shiatsu Chair is a great alternative.
#4 – BestMassage Shiatsu Recliner ($)
BestMassage’s Shiatsu Recliner gives you serious bang for your buck. The zero gravity feature is advanced and designed for comfort and therapy. The heated seat is useful for aches and pains. The long rail provides stability when in recline position. In addition, this chair also boasts a large massage area, an OTPO sensor that can match different body sizes and types, and roller scraping for the whole foot.
If you’re on the larger or taller side, we recommend you checking out the BestMassage Shiatsu Recliner.
#5 – Osaki OS-4000T Executive Zero Gravity ($$$)
The Osaki OS-4000T doesn’t come as cheap as the other chairs on this list but it’s one of our favorite picks. It’s a very solid investment given the features, quality of design and assembly, and the years of service you will get out of this chair. In addition, buying from a reputable brand like Osaki will give you peace of mind you might not get from other cheaper (or worse, no-name) brands.
This massage chair has an army of features which include body scanning, a zero gravity system, 4 massage functions, 5 massage presets, soles and calves massage, 30-inch roller strokes, and an amazing 48 airbags cushioning almost your entire body. Unlike the BestMassage EC-06’s L-track rollers, the OS-4000T has an ergonomic S-track.
(To explain briefly, an S-track has the massage chair rollers going up and down your spine while an L-track extends down to the buttocks and hamstrings area. In an ideal world, you’d probably want an L-track, but it’s not a dealbreaker. For 99% of people the total chair experience is more important than individual features.)
#6 – Human Touch iJoy-2580 ($)
Human Touch is a brand known for quality budget chairs (they’re on a 6-year winning streak in the Awards for Design Excellence competition). “Cheap” and “quality” are two words that usually don’t go well together but this brand manages it amazingly well. Time-tested, the iJoy-2580 has proven itself as an excellent massage chair that will last and last.
Favorite features include the three automated massage programs that promote relaxation and whole body healing. Unlike the usual bulky massage chair, the iJoy-2580 is light and occupies very little space.
#7 – Inada Sogno Dreamwave ($$$$$)
The Inada Sogno Dreamwave is easily the most expensive massage chair on our current Top 10 list. If you have money to spend and want to get the best massage chair that money can buy, we highly recommend this one.
The Dreamwave is built by one of the leading massage chair companies in Japan. They are well-known for their quality products and awesome after-sales support. Its key features include more than 1,000 massage combinations, 8 pre-programmed sessions, an unbelievable 1200 square inch massage coverage across the body, and an advanced sensor scan.
It has been manufactured to the highest of quality standards and you’ll struggle to find anyone who has a bad word to say about it.
#8 – Authentic Beautyhealth Shiatsu ($$)
The Authentic Beautyhealth Shiatsu is a medium-priced chair that offers a wide range of features that you would normally only expect to find on high-priced models. It has 24 types of massages, 2 intensity levels, 3D back scan, foot and calf massagers, and up to 30 minutes of massage time.
The Beautyhealth Shiatsu has no built-in heat. Rather, it makes use of a Jade infrared heating hand massager which can be excellent at targeting problem points in the body. We think the majority of people want their chair to automatically generate heat without them having to do anything – so bear in mind that this model isn’t completely passive.
#9 – Kahuna LM6800 ($$)
The Kahuna LM6800 is a complete and very capable massage chair. It has an L-track massage system, (not one but) 2 zero gravity positions, body scanning, foot massage, heat therapy, 4 automated programs with 3 levels of intensity, and the crowd favorite 30-minute Yoga program.
Another thing that we like about the LM6800 is how it can fit very tall or heavy individuals. This is often an issue with other products in the market. Overall, for its price, you get a very good deal for features and quality.
#10 – iJoy Active 2.0 Massage Chair ($)
Who’d have thought that a chair under $500 as of writing would make it to a Top 10 list? It’s in large part to the brand Human Touch which is known for their array of quality budget massage chairs in the market.
Thanks to Human Touch, those on a tight budget can still enjoy a great little massage chair that gives a great massage experience. Favorite features of the iJoy 2.0 include the FlexiGuide Orbital Massage that targets the spine and muscular structure. It quickly alleviates pain in strained or tired muscles through deep massage and vibration.

Best Premium Massage Chairs ($5000 and up)
If you’re wondering what the best massage chair for the money is, look no further. Though short, this list includes the creme de la creme in the world of professional massage chairs.
If you buy one of these, trust us when we say that you will have a VERY happy spouse, family, or roommate.
Inada Sogno Dreamwave
Out of all the premium massage chair choices, the Inada Sogno Dreamwave is on the most wish lists. This Japanese massage chair is so popular that it ALWAYS makes it to the Top 10 lists of Best Massage Chairs.
Apart from the Sogno Dreamwave, we have four other exceptional chairs in our premium massage chair list. Let’s check them out!
Panasonic EP-MA73 Pro Massage Chair
The EP-MA73 Pro is one of Panasonic’s higher end scale of massage chairs. Without a doubt, you get excellent quality and features from this Japanese brand known for having one of the highest reputations in the massage chair industry. What sets this massage chair apart from other chairs in its class is the 3D Ultra Kneading technology that uses acupressure and shiatsu to work out knots and ease aching muscles. It also has a heated head and foot massage, and hand massage. Like many chairs, it isn’t designed with NBA athletes in mind. So if you’re over 6’2″, we recommend the other premium massage chair options on this list, such as the iRobotics 6.
iRobotics 6 Ultimate Medical Massager
If you like to buy American, then the iRobotics 6 is the chair for you. It is the first robotic massage chair that’s all-US designed and it’s assembled in the US by the Luraco Company. Its customer support is also USA-based and you’re able to talk to a live human being.
As the name indicates, this premium massage chair uses proprietary intelligent robotic massage techniques. The specially designed modes are drool-worthy. The robots may be American but they are trained in the world’s best massage techniques. There’s Japanese and Swedish, plus modes called morning, night, health care, and deep tissue. It’s an awesome chair for stress-busting, relaxation AND pain relief from head to toe.
It is also designed with adjustable height and leg parts so that it can support any size of individual (which is a limitation even for some really good chairs).
Infinity Iyashi Zero-Gravity Massage Chair
The Infinity Iyashi Zero-Gravity massage chair has all the requisite features in a premium massage chair including 2 zero gravity positions, 6 auto massage programs, and an advanced design. Its most outstanding feature though is its massage rollers. At 49 inches long, it is said to have the longest L-shaped track of all massage chairs currently in the market. A longer roller reach means more massage coverage up and down your spine.
Also, the Infinity Iyashi has one of the best built-in speakers. If you’re a real audiophile, you’ll appreciate the quality of the speakers on this chair.
Panasonic Epma70Kx Massage Chair
The Panasonic EP-MA70KX Real Pro Ultra Full Body 3D Massage Chair with Heated Massage Rollers is a premium chair that has a unique set of multi-directional rollers. Its double heated rollers simulate an ultra-relaxing hot stone therapy that loosens tense or aching muscles and improves blood and lymph circulation.
The EP-MA70KX may be on the high and expensive end but you’re guaranteed a highly therapeutic and realistic massage experience.
Best Massage Chair Under 5000
We have two picks for the best massage chair under 5000 dollars.
Panasonic EP30007 Real Pro ULTRATM
The Panasonic EP30007 Real Pro ULTRATM is a limited edition model that’s made in Japan. It comes with an ultra-modern design, all the features of a premium chair, and an advanced Junetsu massage technique. The Junetsu technique is a Panasonic trademark that brings ancient Japan’s thumb-roll massage to massage chair technology.
And did you know? It’s approved by the American Chiropractic Association. This means it is highly recommended for therapeutic and pain management uses.
Of all the Panasonic chairs we’ve reviewed in the past, the EP30007 is one of our favorites. To top it off, it comes at a lower price than other massage chairs of its class. Too bad though that it’s limited edition as it’s hard to get hold of.
The Osaki OS-7200H is the latest from massage chair brand Osaki. The Osaki line of massage chairs has a reputation for delivering great therapeutic massage at prices that people can (happily) afford and the OS-7200H definitely does not disappoint.
It’s got the usual awesome features of premium chairs – plus five strength settings for mild to deep massages, an air massage system that promotes circulation and banishes fatigue, heat in the lumbar area for relaxing muscle tissue, and a sleek frame reminiscent of the Inada Sogno Dreamwave.
Best Massage Chair Under 3000
We have some excellent picks for Best Massage Chair under $3000. Interestingly, you can find this on the Inada website:
Self-Evident Truth #6: There are no good massage chairs out there for less than $2,500.
Osaki OS-4000T Executive Zero Gravity Massage Chair
The Osaki OS-4000T Executive Zero Gravity is the most popular massage chair in this set. Similar to the Inada Sogno Dreamwave, you can’t have a Top 10 list of best massage chairs without finding the OS-4000T. It made our own list of course, so check it if you haven’t yet. Click HERE to make the jump.
Here are two other excellent chairs we recommend:
We still remember the very first time we laid our eyes on the Kahuna LM-7000 and our VERY first thought was, “Now that is some eye candy right there!” Looks aside, the Kahuna has some pretty impressive features including a highly customizable massage experience where you can adjust the roller width, speed, and airbag pressure up to 3 levels. Massage duration is also adjustable from 5 minutes to 30 minutes. There are 3 zero gravity positions plus a longer L-track roller system that reaches up to your thigh.
Buy with confidence as the Kahuna LM-7000 comes with a 5-year warranty plus it’s registered with the FDA as a Medical Device.
Cozzia 16028 Shiatsu Massage Chair
The Cozzia 16028 Shiatsu Massage Chair has been praised by a lot of users for its excellent massage experience. Its special quad rollers give the sensation of human hands massaging your muscles and gives off an uncanny human-like feel. The chair is very easy to use as just one touch of a button will give you access to the 7 programmed massage sequences.
The Cozzia 16028 does what it does very well but it IS missing some features like shoulder, calf, and foot massage so if you need to target these spots, you’ll have to look elsewhere.
Best Massage Chair Under 2000
Because we love getting value for money, 3 out of the 4 chairs under this price range made it to our Top 10 list. These are the Relaxonchair Zero Gravity Shiatsu, the Kahuna LM6800, and the Authentic Beautyhealth Shiatsu.
The 4th best in this price range is:
BestMassage Zero Gravity Soft 3D Hand Massage EC01
The Zero Gravity EC01 comes at a very affordable price point. Thus, the elegant design and realistic massage experience are a pleasant surprise. It comes with 8 massage functions including our favorites: Shiatsu (for relaxation), Chop Action Tapping (for soreness), and Percussion (for deep pressure massage). The massage techniques address taut muscles, stiff joints, bad circulation, and cellulite storage.
On drawback of the EC01 is that it doesn’t have heat for any part of the body.
Best Massage Chair Under 1000
3 out of the 4 chairs in this price range made it to our Top 10 list. These are the BestMassage Shiatsu Recliner, BestMassage EC-06C, and the Human Touch iJoy-2580.
There’s more about these models in the top 10 list at the top of this page. You can click HERE to make the jump. In the meantime, here is our 4th pick:
Full Body Shiatsu Chair Recliner Bed EC-69
The Full Body Shiatsu Chair EC-69 has 5 massage options, durable materials, a less bulky frame, and an affordable price. The chair works by using a vibrating effect which helps soften the thick fatty layers of the body and improve circulation. It also relaxes and rejuvenates.
Due to the design though, the Full Body Shiatsu Chair EC-69 is not built for bigger or bulkier folks. It’s also not recommended for casual sitting as the padding is not too thick and you might feel the chair rollers underneath. That means you’d use it as a chair to go and get a massage in, and not as the main chair you’d sit in to watch TV.

These chairs don’t have the full suite of features you get in the most expensive chairs, but they do provide an excellent massage experience.
Thanks to these low budget chairs, anybody with a few hundred bucks can enjoy a massage chair for home use.
iJoy Active 2.0 Massage Chair
We love the iJoy Active 2.0. It reminds us of that wee train in The Little Engine That Could in that it’s a feisty little massage chair. It’s so good that it’s even ended up in our List of Top 10 Massage Chairs. Bet you didn’t think a massage chair under 500 could do that, did you? This one could.
HomCom Deluxe Heated Vibrating PU Leather Massage Recliner Chair
The HomCom Deluxe is a well-made chair with basic features. It has 5 pre-programmed settings, massage in four zones, and even a heated seat. There are no rollers on the HomCom massage chair but it does offer an invigorating vibrating massage.
Relaxzen 60-425111 Leisure Recliner Chair
For a little over $200, the Relaxzen 60-425111 cannot be expected to have features like its more expensive high-end brothers. Still, it holds its own surprisingly well. It has 8 vibration massage motors, 5 intensity levels, and a heating pad for your lumbar area. Some people find that it is effective for pain management and it can help with arthritis and back pain.
Obviously, the chair is not perfect. Made in China, it can be a bit noisy (like a vibrating phone on a table) and the swivel base can tip you over if you’re picking something up. Except for these manageable issues, the Relaxzen 60-425111 is the perfect example of a budget chair done right.
Massaging Black Leather Recliner and Ottoman
The Massaging Black Leather Recliner and Ottoman is the last massage chair on our list. Similar to other budget massage chairs, it has basic features, 5 programmed settings, vibrating massage, a light structure, and a manual recline. The vibrating massage experience is very relaxing and is able to cover your back, lumbar area, legs, and thighs.
Because of the very affordable price, quality assembly, and satisfactory massage experience, a lot of people buy this budget chair.
To Sum Up
Massage chairs have incredible long-term benefits to your health, sleep, and mental well-being. When setting your budget, consider the cost per day over 5 years. Would you pay 3 dollars a day for a luxurious shiatsu massage? Of course you would!
There’s really no reason not to invest. We hope you found this guide helpful. As you can see, we put a lot of work into it. Do please get in touch and tell us how much you love your new chair!
