If you’ve heard good things about the OOTORI but want one of the lower-priced models, then this chair should be on your shortlist.

Despite the low price, the manufacturer has still managed to incorporate three levels of zero gravity positions to this massage chair. A lot of more expensive chairs only have one zero gravity position so having three on a budget chair is highly commendable to the manufacturer.
Zero Gravity technology is one of our must-haves when it comes to picking out features for a massage chair. If you suffer from back and shoulder pains, aches in your feet and thighs, or you work a job that keeps you on your feet all day or has you carrying heavy stuff, then you’ll benefit a lot from this feature.
This technology lays you out flat on your back so that you feel weightless. With 3 positions to choose from, you can choose just how reclined you are. The deepest level will have your feet higher than your heart.
This reclined position takes the weight off your back and legs. This decompression in your spine gives you immediate relief. This position also promotes better circulation throughout your body.
If you are new to a massage chair with zero gravity technology, try out the shallower recline first to acclimatize yourself.
Lumbar Heating
Heating is another one of our favorites when it comes to massage chairs. If you suffer from lower back pain and stiff joints, heating will always help you especially during the cold months of winter.

With both 3D rollers and airbags massaging your feet and your soles, you truly get a divine foot massage with this chair.
Space Saving
Not all massage chairs have space-saving technology. This OOTORI chair has it though so you don’t need too much space in between the chair and your wall when you set it down in your living room. All you need is a clearance of 3.9 inches and this will be enough for the chair to go to recline without hitting the wall.
How it’s designed is that instead of reclining like your car’s seat, the chair’s body slides forward on a track thus taking up less space.
No Assembly
While other chairs come in multiple parts and get delivered in multiple boxes (arriving at different times), you are spared this inconvenience with this massage chair. It comes in one piece so you don’t have to worry about assembly.
It is still a heavy piece of furniture though so get White Glove service if you can get it.
Cons
Missing Some Features
This actually shouldn’t even be a down side because as expected from the low price, some features just can’t be on this model. However, you need to be aware that this massage chair variant is missing some features that you might normally come to expect from an OOTORI chair.
What this chair is missing:
- NO 3D rollers for the body – It only has them for the foot. You only get fixed rollers for your back. This means that if the chair is not suited to your height and body shape, the rollers won’t hit your body parts right.
- Body scan – This is a feature that normally goes with 3D rollers. An automatic body scan at the beginning of a massage checks for your body shape in order to give you a tailored and custom massage.

If you want these features, you need to spring for a hundred more bucks and get the Sinoluck OOTORI 810L or Asuka A600. Or you can try other brands altogether.
A Relative Newcomer
While we’ve been waxing lyrical about OOTORI chairs in our past reviews, we would still like to give you a cautionary note. This brand is relatively new to the market and thus, we don’t have a guarantee as to its durability and staying power.
Right now, there are two brands that we are keeping a close eye on – Real Relax and OOTORI massage chairs. They are very similar in that they come with low price tags, have a surprising array of features for budget chairs, and have positive feedback from buyers.
Hopefully, the ensuing years will show that these two brands are here to stay and that they will prove themselves in the durability department much like their predecessors.
Pro Tip
If you are getting this chair, here’s a very important tip that can help you avoid a scare. If you are not the type to enjoy deep tissue massage, do NOT under any circumstance attempt to use the chair out of the box.
Make sure to adjust the intensity settings in the air cell massage first. When I tried it out of the box, my hand was caught in the arm hole and it felt like my arm was getting crushed. One other buyer said that for a minute, she couldn’t get her arm out so I wasn’t alone in the experience.
To avoid this, set it to low intensity before your first use. Make sure to adjust the intensity settings for both arms and feet.

If you are the right height and shape for it, we highly recommend the OOTORI Zero Gravity Full Body Shiatsu Electric Massage chair. It is very affordable at under a thousand bucks, gives a pretty good massage experience, and comes with lumbar heating and zero gravity.
