Jane here, guys! Today I thought I’d write and share with you my favorite picks for the best Himalayan sea salt.
I was making chicken vegetable skewers (feeling very Mediterranean, thanks) and as usual, I had my Himalayan Pink Salt grinder out making me even feel better about today’s lunch.
This tasty meal consisted of fresh green and yellow bell peppers, crunchy onions, yummy asparagus, and slices of chicken breasts marinated in lemon, rosemary, pepper, and of course, a good sprinkling of pink Himalayan salt. There’s just something so satisfying when I take out the grinder and grind grind grind.
If you’re still using table salt, have a think and read up on my short article on table salt vs Himalayan salt. Personally though, I just find the latter to make food tastier on different levels. (And have you tried cooking on a Himalayan salt slab??)
Check out our favorite picks for Himalayan salt in our household.
The 5 Best Himalayan Sea Salts
Himalayan salt is by its nature raw, natural, and unrefined. At the risk of repeating that over and over below, I’ll just say that it applies to all genuine Himalayan salt products. The main differences would mainly lie in grade, price, and packaging.

#1: Sherpa Pink Gourmet Himalayan Salt – Fine Grain
It’s probably no surprise that Sherpa is our top 1 pick. TBH, we’re both good with Spice Lab or Sherpa but I ended up choosing this because of the quantity and size of the salt crystals. If you use Himalayan salt as much as we do—for seasoning, drinking, and bath soaks—you need A LOT.
Amazon’s Choice for Himalayan Sea Salt.
Pros
- High quality product from a great brand
- Absolutely value for money
- It’s fine crystals so you don’t need a grinder or a blender to break down your salt for food seasoning
- Great customer service by the San Fransisco Salt Company
Cons
- Not as “fine” as powder so you’ll be disappointed if you’re expecting that; to get that grain size, you can run it through a blender
- Also has a few small non-salt rocks
- Our Sherpa Pink Himalayan Salt is Kosher Certified, Non-GMO, and does not contain any MSG, Soy, Gluten, Dairy, or anti-caking agents. We...
- This Sherpa Himalayan pink salt is in our slightly larger than standard table salt Fine Grain.

Pro Tip
When buying Himalayan salt crystals, one typical problem seems to be small bits of limestone or rocks mixing in with the actual salt crystals. To rectify this, especially if you are using a brand for the first time, shake out the contents in a clean container and weed out any non-salt chunks. You can identify these by color as they are white, gray, or brown. Your Himalayan salt is pink or rose in color.
Is it worth the trouble? If you’re asking this, then you haven’t tasted pink Himalayan salt yet.
