Top 7 Best Essential Oil for Insomnia
#7: New Foods Peaceful Sleep Blend
This Peaceful Sleep blend is a combo of orange, tangerine, lavender, ylang-ylang, and sandalwood. The predominant scent is citrus though.
Most of the time, people associate citrus as an energy booster rather than calming and soothing so it was news to me that it can also be used to aid in sleep.
I would recommend this for folks who don’t like the scent of lavender or for the little ones who like citrus scents better and who need a natural sleep aid.
This blend is also good if you experience the “broken sleep” insomnia where you regularly wake throughout the night in a state of restlessness.
Pros:
- Pleasant aroma
- Ideal for those experiencing broken sleep
- Recommended for those who prefer floral citrus over lavender scents
- Many satisfied (repeat) customers
Cons:
- Citrus scent rather than the usual lavender

Essential Oils for the Sleep-Deprived
Insomnia has been a real issue for Philip and I, so we understand all too well the issues that come with lack of sleep. If you need to get up and go to work in the morning, you don’t want to have to deal with lethargy and grogginess.
And it’s not just us busy or stressed-out adults who find it hard to sleep at night. If you’re a parent with small kids, you know that sleepless nights can be a huge problem. Some little ones just can’t seem to drift to sleep peacefully.
In our situation, aromatherapy has been a huge help. Essential oils have long been used to promote particular brain states including a relaxed and restful mindset that naturally flows into sleep. Even cynical Philip has learned to add some sleep-inducing essential oil to our aromatherapy diffuser when he has a long day ahead.
Instructions For Use
When using essential oils to help combat insomnia, there are several options in terms of how you apply them. Many people will use a few drops of oil in a diffuser, but essential oils can also be dropped on a pillow or mixed with face cream.
If you intend to use essential oils on your skin, ensure you purchase a therapeutic grade oil. In addition, remember that essential oils are highly concentrated so a little goes a long way.
Watch out for your potential allergens too. Choose scents that you’ve experienced in the past without any complications like headaches or sneezing.
In my case, my personal biases are orange, mint, and lavender. Heaven!
