Choosing Your Clawfoot Tub Type

What could be more effortlessly stylish than an elegant, traditionally styled clawfoot bathtub? Bringing the very best of style and sophistication direct to your bathroom, clawfoot tubs are ideal for period styling or true-to-original feature rooms in period renovations.

The aesthetic of the clawfoot’s heyday was most definitely “less is more”, with a focus on a very small number of select, stylish statement pieces.

Find out what style you’ll be going for:

Classic

This is the most common clawfoot tub. They were made in the millions from 1890 to 1940. You can post a classic design from the straight or flat rim and a curled lip that goes all the way around.

Double ended

This bathtub is very similar to the classic design. The difference is in the freestanding faucet and showerhead. Instead of being located at the head, it is in the middle, hence the double ends.

Single Slipper

The slipper is for people who like to have a good lean and relax in the bath. It has a higher raised edge on one end. This high back is perfect for resting your back and head in.

As the name implies, both ends have high backs. This is perfect for couple baths. Just saying. 🙂

By now, you should have an idea of what type you would like to relax in. Let’s narrow it even further with our top 5 picks. For easy reference, we’ve added in the lengths in the product titles. The length is measured from the outside of one rim to the outside of the other.

And that’s it, folks. I’m heading for a grapefruit bath in our tub.
