Ladies, if you are anything like me, you wish you woke up every morning having smooth legs. Alas, I think I have some hairy gorilla genes in my DNA. The best part is that I also have very sensitive skin so shaving is a literal and figurative pain. No-one said life was fair!
This state of affairs has led me to a lot of experimentation with razors, creams, lasers, anti-gorilla gene therapy, and the like. So if you’re looking for the best women’s razor for sensitive skin, you’ve come to the right gal.
What’s the Best Razor for Women with Sensitive Skin?
#1: Schick Hydro Silk 5 – Best Overall
Hands down, in my opinion, this is one of the best disposable razors for women with sensitive skin. I was really happy when I first started using this razor. In the past, I would still get razor burn and itchy skin after using my old shavers. This despite all the shaving hacks I’ve amassed after several decades of shaving.
Not so with the Hydro Silk 5. The moisturizing strip with shea butter really does its job, the blades give a smooth and clean shave, and the feel of the razor in my hand as I go through the curves of my legs feels very good.
The icing on the cake is that these last me longer than other disposable shavers out there.
Pros
- Moisture strip with shea butter works is really lubricating without being sticky
- Little to no razor burn and itchiness; no redness after which I normally get from other razors
- The head isn’t too big that it can’t go to other contoured areas (like down there)
- 5 blades
- Lasts longer; the blades stay sharp longer and I’ve never had a set break on me (unlike the new 6-blade razor I had last week that just broke off from the head)
- Value for money
- Very high user ratings so I’m not the only one happy with it

Pro-Tips
- If you want a very clean shave in your female parts, you should still get an excellent bikini trimmer. This Silk 5 is good enough for days I’m lazy and not going anywhere, but if you’re getting any action, whip out the bikini trimmer (or get a Brazilian wax)
- Because this razor lasts, you will most likely use up the moisturizing strip before you have to throw this razor away. So you can still get a good shave, buy a quality shaving cream.
- Don’t leave your razor on a wet surface or damp place to avoid the moisture dots from going all gooey on you.
- If you’re thinking of subscribing to Amazon for automatic deliveries, you might want to rethink it. Buyers have had bad experiences with the quality of the refills they used.

#2: Schick Hydro Silk TrimStyle With Bikini Trimmer – Best For Trimming
Some ladies want it bare down there. Others want a nice neat trim. If you’re the latter, then this razor is what you need.
The razor on this is satisfactory. I feel the Hydro 5 is more moisturizing but where this one shines is with the bikini trimmer. It works very well, won’t hurt you even if you’re a newbie at trimming, and lasts a long time, too. I read what others had to say about this razor and surprisingly, a lot of women buy it just for the trimmer.
If you travel a lot though, that’s another reason to get this. It’s very practical because you’ll just have the Trimstyle instead of having two things with you – a razor and your bikini trimmer. Just flip it and voila!
The trimmer works on batteries. I wish they’d design something that can be recharged on a USB port soon.

Cons
- It will last you one year before it gives out. Most people re-purchase because they’re very happy with it. (And honestly, I wouldn’t want to keep a razor for more than a year.)
Pro tips
- Remove the guard (white plastic part) if you want a closer trim
- You don’t need to keep pressing on the hold button to keep it on. Just hold down the power button for 2 to 3 seconds and it should stay on while you use it.
- If you are new to trimming, make sure to trim against hair growth just like you do when you shave.

#3: Solimo 5-Blade Razor – Best Value
I hadn’t heard of Solimo before Amazon kept shoving them in front of my face in the recommendations section in my quest to find new Gillette models that actually performed well. I failed at my first mission but the Solimo were a welcome surprise. Because the reviews were genuine and buyers were rating high, I thought they must know something I didn’t, right? And I’m glad I followed my guts that time.
They are so cheap but for the price, they work so well. They give a close shave, are very moisturizing, and don’t have adverse effects on my sensitive skin.
I now bring a handful in my luggage carrier when I travel with friends because somebody WILL forget to bring their razor. I get happy when I can just reach in to my bag and hand them one of my spares. On more than a couple of occasions, I even got asked where I bought them.
Pros
- Low price; very affordable
- Good performance with the blades; give a close shave without nicks and cuts. According to the label, the blades are manufactured in the US from steel made in either Japan or Sweden.
- The moisturizing strip uses botanical oils. It’s great and lasts longer than other brands despite the cheaper price.
- The wall mount is very useful because it keeps the razor dry and working well for longer

- The head doesn’t pivot or move as well as more expensive razors

#4: Personna 5-Blade Razor – Best Cruelty-Free

If you want good disposable shavers for 1) sensitive skin that 2) haven’t used animals for testing, then what you’re looking for is Personna. Personna’s company, American Safety Razor, is listed on PETA’s website as cruelty-free. 
Pros
- Cruelty-free; not tested on animals
- The handle is made out of recycled plastic
- Affordable price. These are the same razors you can buy from Target but you can buy these in bulk for much cheaper.
- Works well for sensitive skin and even for people with skin issues like skin asthma or eczema.
- 5 blades; shave is very smooth and close
- Great quality for the price
- Great for traveling or as extras for house guests
Cons
- Don’t last as long as my other razors
I’ve noticed that people who have an allergy to the moisture strip of other brands do well with these Personna razors. FYI, the lubrication strips on these razors use aloe and Vitamin E.

#5: Schick ST2 – Most Affordable
These and the Solimos are my go-to razors when going out on a trip. They’re cheap and disposable so I won’t cry if I break them on the way or forget them in an AirBnB cabinet. These have only 2 blades on them so just be aware of that.
If they’re not available on Amazon, don’t be surprised. They’re getting harder to find and the penny-pinchers who are big fans of the ST2 aren’t happy.
Pros
- Cheap; you get 12 in a pack
- If you don’t like the hassle of taking care of the higher priced shavers, you can just buy a pack of these and dispose of them often
- Work as advertised
Cons
- Don’t give a close a shave as the other razors on this list hence the price difference. I’ve gotten nicks from these if I don’t prep my skin before a shave.
- Blades get dull fast
- Narrow Head: Designed for a close and comfortable shave

The Extreme 3 is not my first choice for either a premium or disposable shaver. However, it works for many other people hence its place in my honorable mention section.

- Not the closest of shaves but gets the job done

As I briefly mentioned earlier, I tried to find the best Gillette razors for women with sensitive skin. One of my finds is the Venus Embrace. It uses aloe for the moisturizing strip but it’s still best to use this with a moisturizer or shaving cream if you have extremely sensitive skin.
Pros
- Has 5 blades so the shave is smooth
- The razor itself is very cheap
- Can navigate hard-to-shave areas like knees and ankles
Cons
- The refills are pricey. They’re twice or thrice the price of other brand refills.

If you want more bang out of your buck but can’t afford the Embrace refills, check out the Venus Oceana. For a couple of dollars more, you get a total of 6 shavers for one purchase.
Pros
- Works well for sensitive skin
- Has an aloe strip that helps the razor glide on your skin; leaves a nice smooth lotion feel after a shave
- Can be used for legs and armpits

- Has three blades only
- Isn’t for everybody. It works well for some people and for some other folks, not so much.

#10: Panasonic ES2207P – Best Electric Shaver for Women
Try as I might, I just couldn’t find 10 good disposable razors so our tenth ends up an electric shaver. But don’t worry. I picked the best electric shaver for women and it has special features built-in with the sensitive skin in mind.
The Panasonic ES2207P is an electric shaver with 3 hypoallergenic blades and an ultra-thin foil. So long as you don’t damage the foil, it works perfectly well in delivering a close, smooth, and nick-free shave. The handle feels good in my hand and the head follows the contours of my legs very well.
Personally, I feel my top 5 picks give the better shave compared to any electric shavers, however, you do get to save some money when you go for electric. For starters, you save up on expensive refills, shaving cream, and hot water.

- Easy to clean so it stays sharp for longer
- Very portable for an electric shaver since it is cordless and rechargeable

- Affordable price compared to other electric shavers

- As with any foil head shaver, if you damage the foil head, you’d have to get a new head or buy yourself a new razor.

- Make sure your skin is either totally dry or totally wet. Any in-between dampness will keep the blades from doing their job well.

Summing Up
Our bodies are all different especially since we have different hair texture, volume, and even different skin quality. Thus, what would be a great shaver for me might not be so great for you.
